NEGOTIATING GROUP FOR CHAPTER 23 DISCUSSES THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION’S COMMENTS ON THE FIRST DRAFT OF THE REVISED ACTION PLAN
On 22 October 2019, the Negotiating Group for Chapter 23 held a meeting at the Klub narodnih poslanika, discussing the European Commission’s comments on the first draft of the revised Action Plan for Chapter 23. The meeting of the institutions in charge of the Action Plan for Chapter 23 was organised by the Ministry of Justice in cooperation with the Project.
The Ministry of Justice is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of 60 different institutions involved in the implementation of the Chapter 23 Action Plan.
Assistant Justice Minister and Head of the Negotiating Group for Chapter 23, Mr Čedomir Backović said that the institutions responsible for the Chapter 23 Action Plan would review the comments received and respond with their own comments, suggestions and proposals in writing.
Those institutions would submit their written responses to the Ministry of Justice in the upcoming period in order to prepare a consolidated draft of the revised Action Plan for Chapter 23, followed by a new public hearing and a dialogue with the civil society. After that, the final draft of the revised Action Plan for Chapter 23 would be presented to the European Commission.
